New Delhi -- Private detectives are playing a part in the arranged marriages in India. Since arranged marriages in India are being replaced by marriages with love and emotion, and sometimes with Internet introductions, new wedding sleuths come into play.
For generations it has been the norm for arranged marriages in India with relatives, two sets of parents and matchmakers involved in setting up the marriage without input from the two potential spouses. Trusted friends would "keep an eye" out for trouble between the couple. Is the prospective groom stable in his job or is the bride-to-be too flirtatious with others? Discussions go on behind the couple's back.
Enter Ajit Singh, private detective of Hatfield Detectives. He says, "Today, there's a need to check if people are telling the truth. And that is where we get involved. Does that boy really have an education? Is he really earning that big salary? Is that boy or girl running around?"
